Pest Sanitation

The Public Health Program (PHP) of the Building Code Department provides consulting and advice on practices to prevent pest infestation and coordinates with Facilities Management and the University's pest control contractors to prevent and/or control pests.

Food Service Establishments

For pest infestations in food service facilities, PHP will require immediate resolution of conditions contributing to the pest problems. See also Administrative Procedure: Food Safety.

Building Construction

Demolition

A pest control plan is required as part of the schematic design construction documentation prior to demolition of any University property or facility. See the Insect and Rodent Control guidelines for more information.

New Facilities

All new or renovated food facilities and research animal quarters will be treated for pests in spaces not readily visible (air voids, door voids, etc.) prior to occupancy. See the Insect and Rodent Control guidelines for more information.
