Code Analysis
Purpose
To assist with early discovery of potential code deficiencies in design. A completed Code Data Block is required at the first BCD Plans Examiner/Designer pre-review proposal of a project.
Purpose
Project summary of life safety codes and architectural design assumptions, to assist with early discovery of potential code deficiencies. A complete code record is to be presented to the BCD Plans Examiner(s), at the earliest scheduled code discussion meeting. A code block summary shall contain at least:
- Applicable Codes (stating design primary codes such as IBC or MCEB*)
- Occupancy Classifications (noting primary and accessory occupancies)
- Occupant Load (chart the occupant for each space, floor and building as necessary)
- Special Occupancy (see IBC Chapter 4)
- Chemical Inventory
- Control Areas (list and map control areas for building and each story)
- Type of Construction
- Height and Number of Stories
- Automatic Fire Sprinkler System (noting any specialty fire suppression system)
- Allowable Floor Area (illustrating the allowable area versus actual for each floor)
- Fire Resistive Requirements (shafts, corridors and exterior walls)
- Exiting (separate document noting all means of egress components and travel distances)
- Plumbing Fixtures (see IBC chapter 29 for minimum fixture counts)
