Information for Visitors Who Work Around Animals

Short-term Visitors

Short-term visitors to the University (up to 90 days) whose work will not involve assessing the Biosafety Level 3 facilities may waive participation in the Research Occupational Health Program (ROHP) by filling out the Waiver of Participation in University of Minnesota Research Occupational Health Program.

Visitors who will be at the University between 6-90 days may only waive participation in ROHP if they certify that they are enrolled in a comparable occupational health care program associated with animal care and use at their home institution.

Visitors for any amount of time that will be entering areas with ferrets and pigs are required to submit a record for the current seasonal influenza vaccination.

Visitors for any amount of time that will be entering areas with nonhuman primates will need to submit records for a current seasonal influenza vaccination, a negative tuberculosis test result within the last year, and an MMR immunization series or a measles titer showing immunity.
